Dentistry in Oak Ridges accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
—
We are pleased to inform our patients that Dentistry in Oak Ridges accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We have taken steps to gather information for you to simplify the application process. To inquire if you are eligible for dental coverage on the CDCP plan, please contact their call centre at 1-888-537-4342 or go online to canada.ca/dental.
Your first visit will give you a chance to meet the dentist and discuss your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, cosmetic treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan may require an evaluation and a second appointment before we can get started.
What You Should Know About the CDCP
Once enrolled, the welcome package you receive from Sun Life will include the date you can start seeing an oral health provider. Appointments can only be scheduled on or after your coverage start date.

When Can You Enrol?
Enrolment is open now for all ages. You can apply here: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan.html
Important Notes
This is not a free dental program. Depending on your adjusted family net income, patients may have to make a co-payment of up to 60%. You may also have to pay costs the CDCP does not cover.
The CDCP does not cover all dental services. Before starting any treatment, ensure you understand your dental care costs. Please let us know if you plan to use CDCP benefits.
Important Updates for CDCP Renewal
As part of the Canadian Dental Care Plan's (CDCP) eligibility process, CDCP clients must renew their coverage every year to confirm they continue to meet eligibility criteria.
The renewal process starts in March for the new coverage benefit year, which begins in June annually.
If you are currently covered under the CDCP, you can expect to receive a letter from the Government of Canada informing you that you need to renew your coverage before June 1, along with instructions on how to do so.
Renewal Process for CDCP
File your tax return from the previous year (same for your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable). You must receive your Notice of Assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency before starting the renewal process.
Submit your renewal application by June 1. Renewal applications can be completed online at Canada.ca/dental, through My Service Canada, or by calling 1-833-537-4342 (TTY: 1-833-677-6262). You will receive a confirmation letter from the Government of Canada outlining your eligibility.
What to Expect If You Are Still Eligible
For CDCP clients who remain eligible, the letter will include:
The new coverage benefit period start date, which for most should be June 1, but could be later depending on when you renew.
Any changes to your co-payment (if applicable), will take effect with the new coverage benefit period and remain valid until June 30 of that year.
You will be encouraged to bring this letter to your next dental appointment.
CDCP Verification Required
We will need to verify your continued coverage under the plan and check if your co-payment level has changed before providing services. Any estimates or preauthorization submissions previously approved will not be valid if you are no longer covered under the plan.
