November 2023: Tips, eNews & More!

To all our Valued Patients......We have great news!!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Zack Cohen has joined our incredible dental family. Dr. Cohen will be offering daytime, evening, and Saturday hours to help accommodate everyone’s needs!

Dr. Cohen comes with a myriad of experience and is an excellent addition to our practice. He studied at the University of Western Ontario where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with an honours specialization in Psychology. He then went on to attend the New York University College of Dentistry and graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Following his graduation, Dr. Cohen expanded his knowledge and skills when he decided to do a general practice hospital residency in the Bronx (NY) at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, an adult level 1 trauma center affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Cohen is a dedicated dentist who is committed to providing you and your family with exceptional oral healthcare in a warm and welcoming environment. With a passion for dentistry, he believes in a patient-centered approach, where your comfort, concerns, and goals are at the forefront of his treatment plans. He takes the time to listen to your needs, answer your questions, and ensure that you are fully informed about your oral health options. He will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that suits your unique smile. Dr. Cohen is also conveniently fluent in Hebrew and, in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, playing hockey, golf, and tennis, and watching Survivor and many sports.

Dr. Cohen looks forward to meeting all our patients while growing his practice as well. Feel free to call the office should you have any questions or would like to set up a time to come in and meet him.

Warm regards,

Dr. Herzog, Dr. Stern and the entire DIOR dental team

For many of us, November is a month of change as winter is right around the corner. As the weather gets colder and days get shorter, we rush to unpack our warmer clothes while trying to get started on our holiday shopping. Don't forget to enjoy the warm fall sunshine, colourful changes in nature, or a cup of hot tea or cocoa to treat yourself in the moment. The daylight savings time change and potential related effects are also an adjustment to our day-to-day lives.

November is also TMJ Awareness Month, bringing focus to an issue that affects millions of people around the world. Many suffer from jaw pains and other TMJ-related symptoms, and they may not even be aware of the root cause. Check out our featured article below to learn more about TMJ and how it can be treated. If you think you may be suffering from TMJ pains, contact us today to see how we can help!

A Friendly Reminder: Use It or Lose It!

With the end of the year quickly approaching, if your dental plan is based on the calendar year, your benefits may not roll over into the new year and instead reset. So take advantage of your plan by getting a check-up, cleaning, or any other dental work you may have been putting off before year's end. Also, if you have more significant work that you've been holding off from starting, speak to us about options to split it between your 2023 and 2024 insurance allotments. Contact us today to learn more!

Understanding TMJ: Causes, Symptoms, and Your Path to Recovery

TMJ, commonly referred to as a temporomandibular joint, connects the jaw to the skull, using the temporal bones which are found in front of the ears. Everyone has two temporomandibular joints which allow us to open and close our mouths when eating, speaking, or swallowing. Disorders associated with this area are referred to as temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and if you're noticing severe pain or discomfort in your jaw, neck, or face, it could be a sign of TMD.
