August 2021: Tips, eNews & More!

August has arrived and it is looking better than ever! Thanks to the continuing vaccine rollout and significant improvements in public health trends, many restrictions have been lifted and we are closer to "a new normal". There is plenty of time for us to enjoy the warm weather and engage in summer activities with our loved ones before summer draws to an end and schools reopen for the next term. Make sure to use your time wisely by indulging in summer fun and also taking care of yourself. Stay hydrated and remember to check-in about your oral health needs.

If you and your family enjoy playing sports, especially high-impact sports such as soccer or basketball, be sure to protect your smile with a mouthguard. Learn more about how a mouthguard can protect your teeth and gums below. Did you know a mouthguard also can help with issues related to clenching, grinding, and sleep apnea?

With back-to-school season just around the corner, don't forget to plan a dental visit for your child(ren) before they start the school year. Book a check-up appointment with us so you and your family can have that smile in top shape for anything that comes your way. We look forward to seeing you and taking care of your oral health!

Stay safe and healthy,

Mouthguards are flexible dental appliances that can be worn to protect your teeth from clenching, grinding, and sports injuries. In other words, they are used to prevent the lower jaw from colliding into the upper jaw, averting major injuries such as concussions, jaw fractures, neck injuries as well as limiting bruising and laceration of the lips and cheeks. Mouthguards are usually made of plastic materials that fit comfortably over your teeth and gums. There are different types of mouthguards that you can choose from depending on your needs.

Stir-Fried Eggplant with Basil and Chilies

August is peak eggplant season! Eggplants are packed with many good vitamins and minerals, very few calories, and are also high in antioxidants. This delicious and easy-to-make recipe is a flavourful way to add eggplant to your weekly dinner. Look for Japanese or Chinese eggplant varieties that are longer and thinner, which are less bitter and can become creamy-tender with minimal cooking.
